Sunday Rituals: Preparing the Home and Heart for the Fourth of July

There is a distinct, beautiful shift that happens on a Sunday afternoon when you decide to slow down and intentionally prepare your space for the week ahead. With a whole week of summer celebrations just around the corner, today was all about resetting, cleaning, and setting a table that welcomes the holiday with an entirely light, unbothered heart.

My morning started in the absolute best way—quietly anchored at Mass, giving thanks, and centering my soul. Walking out into the bright afternoon sun, I felt a deep sense of clarity. When I got home, the first thing I did was put some music on the speakers to let the melody drift from room to room. I opened the doors to let the warm, fresh breeze sweep in, and simply started the gentle process of preparing my sanctuary.

There is something so therapeutic, so deeply nurturing, about a thorough Sunday clean. From wiping down the kitchen counters to selecting fresh, vibrant flowers for the centerpieces, every action today felt like a quiet act of devotion to the space I inhabit and the life I am building.

The Curation: Blue Gingham & Timeless American

When it comes to holiday styling, I love focusing on details that feel effortless, romantic, and deeply comforting. Creating a beautiful home isn't just about how a room looks; it’s about how it feels when you walk in—it’s about making a space feel safe, elevated, and warm.

  • The Dress: To match the easy, bright energy of the day, I’m wearing the Tobi Drop Waist Dress from Anthropologie. The blue and white gingham feels so wonderfully nostalgic and summer-coded, and the drop-waist silhouette gives it that perfect, feminine movement for moving around the house and setting the table. It feels classic, romantic, and entirely effortless.

  • The Tablescape: For the decor itself, I wanted a look that felt crisp, premium, and full of heritage. All of my Americana pieces this year are from Pottery Barn—from the miniature American flags tucked into the bright red blooms to the gorgeous, detailed plates and matching blue glassware. Pottery Barn just has an unmatched way of capturing that timeless, elevated coastal-patriotic aesthetic. It brings a sense of tradition and elegant warmth to the table that immediately makes the house feel like a home.

There is a quiet joy in taking pride in your environment. Taking care of the details—the linens, the music, the polishing of the glass—is how we set the invisible thermostat for the peace inside our walls.
