Homemade biscuits, still warm. Pink deviled eggs. A lasagna that filled the whole kitchen with the smell of something good. Glazed ham with pineapple. Bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers. A cheesy potato bake, golden on top. Roasted rainbow carrots. Melons and prosciutto. Mashed potatoes. A simple green salad. Lemon salmon. A lemon drizzle loaf. And a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and pecans. All homemade from scratch.
White roses in the middle of all of it. Candles lit. A blue tablecloth and every dish made by hand. Full and warm and a little bit of everything, for every heart and tummy. My favorite days are these.
This is the table I want to always set. Room for everyone. Always something homemade. Always something warm.
And now — a special second carrot cream cake for dessert, and time with the people I love most, long into the night.
